You will arrive in time for lunch at the Wellworth Kilimamoja Lodge and later this afternoon you will head into the Lake Manyara National Park for an afternoon game drive. Lake Manyara National park is one of Tanzania's most dramatically located wildlife areas, consisting of a massive but shallow soda lake (covering two-thirds of the park), located at the foot of the Great Rift Valley's western escarpment. The park's varied habitat attracts a wide variety of animals, including one of Africa's largest concentrations of elephants, Lake Manyara's unique tree-climbing lions, as well as large flocks of flamingos attracted by the algae in the lake.

Lake Manyara Kilimamoja Lodge is nestled on the rim of the Great African Rift Valley with stunning views of Lake Manyara, Mount Meru and on a clear day, Mount Kilimanjaro. The lodge is situated in lush green gardens and local vegetation with over 130 species of bird. It offers an ideal place in which to base a northern safari experience. The Ngorongoro Crater, Oldeani, Lake Eyasi, Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Highlands are just a short drive away from the lodge. Days 5, 6 Itinerary

Leaving Serengeti behind, today you will head out towards Ngorongoro Conservation area. You will do a stopover at Olduvai Gorge, boasting with a history dating back to the dawn of time. It was here, that the anthropologists Drs. Lois and Mary Leakey discovered the skulls of the'Nutcracker Man' and 'Handy Man', both very significant links in the chain of human evolution. YOu will arrive and check in at the luxurious Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp in time for lunch and spend the afternoon at leisure.

The Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania is one of the world’s most unusual wildlife destinations. Its walls are the unbroken caldera of an ancient volcano and, over the course of millennia, the minerals on the crater floor left from the last eruption created an extremely fertile soil that supports plenty of grazing for plains game. The lush grassland attracted as many animals as could make the journey over its steep rim and today, Ngorongoro is home to 30 000 mammals, most of which never leave its protected paradise. As a result, the Crater offers some of the best game viewing in Africa, including zebra, eland, elephant and a parade of predators, from jackals and hyenas to leopards and lions. It's not unusual to see all members of the Big 5 in a single day.

Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp is located in the Crater’s rim valley, close to the access road that leads to the crater floor. This is an authentic tented camp with spacious tents, each with an en suite bathroom. In addition to superb and varied game viewing, you can also have a cultural encounter in a traditional Maasai village. Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp offers a classic tented experience where wildlife and scenic beauty are the central attractions

Day 7 Itinerary

After breakfast we depart for the Tarangire National Park. The park runs along the line of the Tarangire River and is mainly made up of low-lying hills on the Great Rift Valley floor. Its natural vegetation mainly consists of Acacia woodland and giant African Baobab trees, with huge swamp areas in the south. Both the river and the swamps act like a magnet for wild animals, during Tanzania's dry season. The Tarangire National Park is reputed to contain some of the largest elephant herds in Africa. This African National Park is also home to three rare species of animals - the Greater Kudu, the Fringed-eared Oryx, as well as a few Ashy Starlings. After a picnic lunch we do an afternoon game drive.

You will check in into Nimali Tarangire Camp - a small and intimate tented camp nestled under the shade of acacia trees and overlooking a dry riverbed bordered by huge and dramatic granite boulders. The camp sits on its own private concession bordering Tarangire National Park. The concession, together with the surrounding Wildlife Management Area, is simply an extension of the Park and offers exclusive game viewing away from the crowds. There are no fences between our private concession, the surrounding Wildlife Management Area or the National Park and animals wander freely between these areas.
