After breakfast, you have the whole morning to your leisure. Afternoon flight from Arusha to Kuro airstrip in Tarangire National Park. A breathtaking afternoon game drive in Tarangire National Park follows. Known for its huge herds of elephants, sometimes up to 300 look out for them scratching the dry river bed for underground streams. Stay 2 nights at Nimali Tarangire Camp - a small and intimate tented camp nestled under the shade of acacia trees and overlooking a dry riverbed bordered by huge and dramatic granite boulders. The camp sits on its own private concession bordering Tarangire National Park. The concession, together with the surrounding Wildlife Management Area, is simply an extension of the Park and offers exclusive game viewing away from the crowds. There are no fences between our private concession, the surrounding Wildlife Management Area or the National Park and animals wander freely between these areas.
An exhilarating morning game drive whilst temperatures are cool makes the ideal time to spot big game returning from a night of hunting. Spend the afternoon on a game walk and visit an authentic Maasai village. Drive to Sunset Hill for sundowners, soaking up a beautiful sunset and the rising stars over the Tarangire plains. Often there is the chance to spot giraffe and hyena. A night game drive will follow. Tarangire national park runs along the line of the Tarangire River and is mainly made up of low-lying hills on the Great Rift Valley floor. Its natural vegetation mainly consists of Acacia woodland and giant African Baobab trees, with huge swamp areas in the south. Both the river and the swamps act like a magnet for wild animals, during Tanzania's dry season. The Tarangire National Park is reputed to contain some of the largest elephant herds in Africa. This African National Park is also home to three rare species of animals - the Greater Kudu, the Fringed-eared Oryx, as well as a few Ashy Starlings. After a picnic lunch we do an afternoon game drive.
Morning game drive through Tarangire National Park. Picnic lunch before flying to Manyara, you will be met and transferred to Lake Ndutu Luxury Tented Lodge, staying for two nights. Tucked in an acacia forest with views across a lake-filled valley, Lake Ndutu Tented Camp gives you a gorgeous foothold in Tanzania's Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a top safari destination. The camp is popular for its refined service and handsome facilities, but principally for its location near the Great Migration action. Here, hundreds of thousands of wildebeest, zebra and antelope pause on their journey to graze and calve, followed by eager predators. There are 20 tents, so the camp may not offer the intimacy of smaller outfits. But it's extremely comfortable and welcoming, and the sightings are out of this world. Two days of exploration of the world-renowned UNESCO World Heritage site of the Ngorongoro Crater. The Crater is 16000 metres wide and the largest, unflooded, intact volcanic caldera in the world. From its rim it drops 600 metres to the crater floor, which is home to large animals including black rhino, hippopotamus, wildebeest, zebra and Thompson’s gazelle. The densest population of lion also reside here. On the crater rim look out for elephant and leopard.
Early morning road transfer after breakfast to the Manyara airstrip for your short flight to Kogatende airstrip and an onward road transfer to the luxurious Serengeti Bushtops. You can opt to enjoy lunch at the Arusha Coffee Lodge before your return flight.
